Logan Seavey (No. 20 Craftsman Toyota) claimed the General Tire Pole Award for this afternoon's ARCA Menards Series Allen Crowe 100 presented by Lucas Oil at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Seavey's fast lap of 33.466 seconds/107.572 miles per hour was nearly a half second quicker than teammate and defending race winner Christian Eckes (No. 15 JBL Audio/Illinois Truck & Equipment Toyota).
Seavey made his ARCA debut at Springfield last season, finishing fourth, and won in his second career start at DuQuoin two weeks later.
"The second groove is starting to come in," Seavey said. "Hopefully we'll get a little more water on the track and we can find a little more speed in the race. As the race goes on it will lose grip and we'll have to tighten the car up as we go. We'll need to keep the tires under it. It's tricky to get your car good here."
Eckes' lap of 33.952 seconds/106.032 miles per hour was good enough to give him a front row starting position for this afternoon's 100-mile feature event. Ty Gibbs (No. 18 Monster Energy/Terrible Herbst/ORCA Coolers/Advance Auto Parts Toyota) was third at 33.976 seconds/105.957 miles per hour, Illinois dirt late model veteran Ryan Unzicker was fourth at 34.204 seconds/105.251 miles per hour, and Corey Heim (No. 22 Speedway Children's Charities Ford), who was fastest in practice, was fifth at 34.222 seconds/105.195 miles per hour.
Joe Graf, Jr. (No. 77 EAT SLEEP RACE Ford), Carson Hocevar (No. 28 GMPartsNow.com/Scott's Coins/KBR Development Chevrolet), Kelly Kovski (No. 16 Schnap Sewer Service Chevrolet), Michael Self (No. 25 Sinclair Lubricants Toyota), and Travis Braden (No. MatrixCare/Consonus Health Care/Liberty Village Ford) rounded out the top ten.
The Allen Crowe 100 presented by Lucas Oil is scheduled for 2:30 pm ET/1:30 pm CT. The race is scheduled for live coverage on MAVTV; ARCARacing.com will have live timing & scoring, live chat, and live track updates throughout the day for registered users.
