Lourdes closed out its two-game trip to Belleville, Ill. on Sunday afternoon with a 14-3 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville at Lindenwood Stadium to remain unbeaten on the young season.
Tiara Reed (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) scored seven times and added two assists as the Gray Wolves cruised to victory.
“I am extremely proud of the intensity the team brought to the game today,” head coach Alyssa Shaver said afterwards. “They listened to what our coaching staff told them, made corrections from yesterday, and applied it on the field.”
Ashley Hunt (Cape May, N.J. /Lower Cape May H.S.) and Reed each scored twice as Lourdes opened the game with the first four goals on the way to building a 6-1 lead at halftime.
Reed opened the second half with a goal and Bella D’Arcy (Hartland, Mich./Hartland H.S.) added two of her three goals as the Gray Wolves extended the lead to 9-1 on the way to the victory.
Lourdes outshot the Lynx 38-19 on the afternoon, held a 17-15 advantage in ground balls, and won 13 of the 17 draw controls in the contest.
Jacque Pappadakes (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River H.S.) made nine saves in goal D’Arcy had a team-high three ground balls. Reed won seven draw controls for the Gray Wolves.
Cassidy Mundwiller made seven saves starting in goal for Lindenwood-Belleville (0-1) while Isabelle Booth made 10 stops over the game’s final 21 minutes.
Lourdes (2-0) will open the home portion of its 2019 schedule on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Walsh. The opening draw is set for 5 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
