Entering the final day of competition at the Cardinal Classic, Lourdes began in third place, and maintained its position throughout, finishing the tournament with a pin fall of 7,308 at Munsee Lanes in Muncie, Ind.
The Gray Wolves finished 228 pins behind runner up Lincoln Memorial while Wright State took home the team title, moving up one spot on the final day to finish at 7,659 pins, winning the event by 123 pins. Judson finished fourth in the field of 16 schools, 247 pins in back of Lourdes.
“Today the guys continued to build off yesterday’s momentum,” head coach Torrie Bartalone said afterwards. “We got off to a slow start but came together and battled the rest of the day to make a strong statement on the lanes. We left a lot of pins out there this weekend, but we now know what it takes. The guys will continue to build upon their chemistry with every game they bowl, and are ready for league play.”
Lourdes averaged 182.8 over the 40 games throughout the weekend. In the four sets on Sunday, the Gray Wolves averaged 176.8 for the 16 games. The second block of games were the Gray Wolves’ best on day two, as Lourdes rolled a four-game total of 756, including a 233 game to start the set. Lourdes had four 200 games on the final day.
Lourdes will return to the lanes on Saturday as the Gray Wolves compete in the first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference jamboree of the season. Action begins at 8 a.m. at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich. for the event hosted by Michigan-Dearborn.
