After carding an opening round 303, Lourdes is tied for first place following Saturday’s round at the ONU Fall Invitational held at Colonial Golfers Club in Harrod, Ohio.
The Gray Wolves are tied atop the standings with Heidelberg, and five shots ahead of tournament host and third place Ohio Northern.
“I thought we played pretty well considering the wind was blowing strong a majority of the day,” head coach Gil Guerrero said afterwards. “We just need to play a little more confident and we will be in good shape.”
Jay Denman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) and Spencer Stubbs (Lima, Ohio/Bath H.S.) are tied for second place overall after each shot 74 on the 6,492-yard, par-72 course. The duo trail Ohio Northern’s Alejandro Cabungcal by one shot heading into the final round.
Ian Friesner (Lima, Ohio/Lima Central Catholic H.S.) is tied for fourth after firing a 75 in the opening round while Hunter DeWeese (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington H.S.) posted an 80 to complete the Lourdes scoring. Caden Irwin (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) rounded out the lineup with an opening round of 83.
Lourdes will return to Colonial Golfers Club on Sunday afternoon for the final round of action. Play begins at 10 a.m.
