Lourdes picked up its first three dual victories of the season on Sunday afternoon, downing Pitt-Bradford, Urbana, and Penn State Behrend before falling to John Carroll as part of the John Carroll Duals held in the Decarlo Varsity Center in University Heights, Ohio.
The Gray Wolves defeated Pitt-Bradford 29-15, downed Urbana 29-18, and bested Penn State Behrend 38-18 before dropping a 28-9 decision to the host Blue Streaks.
“Our results from today show that we are making some significant improvement,” head coach Dock Kelly III said afterwards. “We wrestled some quality competition today and are very fortunate to be able to come away with three dual victories. We will take some time to rest and recover and then we will return after the break to get ready for our home debut.”
Tyler Roberts (Hudson, Mich./Hudson H.S.), Garrett Anderson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.), and Bobby Kelley (Ney, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) all registered pins in the opening match while Noah Clary (Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky H.S.) won with a tech fall. Ray Porter (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville H.S.) and Tyler Gates (Smiths Creek, Mich./Maryville H.S.) won their bouts via decision.
Against Urbana, Anderson picked up his second consecutive fall while Roberts and Kelley both won by major decision. Gates, Clary, and Alec Moore-Nash (Price Hill, Ohio/Elder H.S.) added victories by decision.
Porter started the Penn State Behrend match with a pin while Kelley and Moore-Nash each added another for the gray Wolves. Tyler Sarreshteh (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty-Benton H.S.) won his bout by major decision as did Anderson.
Kelley completed a 4-0 day with a win via decision against host John Carroll while Moore-Nash and Hunter Jacks (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) won matches the same way against the Blue Streaks.
Lourdes (3-2) will host Adrian on Thursday, Nov. 29 for the Gray Wolves’ home opener. The opening bout is set for 7 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
