NORTHWOOD, Ohio (WTVG) - When Northwood High Schools' track and field team needs points at the Toledo Area Athletic Conference Track and Field Championship, the Rangers turn to senior Trinity Fowler.
Fowler is the TAAC Runner of the Year the last two seasons after scoring 80 total points at the last two conference championships.
"It's definitely the coaches," Fowler said. "They put a lot in our training to make me be able to do that."
Fowler has a quiet personality, but her feet certainly do the talking.
"She just wants to do what's best for the team," Northwood assistant coach Katrina Moses said. "We were trying to win the TAAC - which our girls did - so those 40 points that she was able to pull in really helped. So she was happy to be put wherever we needed her to score the most points."
This year, Fowler took first place in the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200-meter races.
"It takes a lot to win the TAAC," Moses said. "Especially Northwood is a school that we don't have pole vault so we're automatically out some points so we're usually climbing back there. So its really helpful to have someone who is just so well with her endurance to be able to run a half mile, mile, two miles and quarter mile all in the same meet."
So what's next for Fowler?
"Well obviously I need to make it to state, so make it there and I want to try to win the 800," Fowler said.
She finished second last year in the 800-meter run at the state meet and it may come as no surprise with this result that the 800 is her best event.
Fowler will run for the Falcons next school year.
