The University of Findlay football team overcame five turnovers to defeat Walsh University by a score of 24-16 on Oct. 27 in a rain-filled evening at Donnell Stadium. The victory pushes the Oilers record to 5-3 on the season with a 3-2 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
The Oilers piled up 501 yards of total offense in the game and averaged 6.1 yards per play. Most of their damage was done on the ground as they rushed the ball 55 times for 308 yards. Sophomore Brian Benson was the beneficiary of the Oilers plan to grind it out on the ground as he set career-high's with 40 carries for 233 yards and three touchdowns. Benson scored on a 2-yard run in the first, a 29-yard scamper later in the first quarter and a 24-yard run in the third to put Findlay ahead for good in the game.
