Oilers Split on First Day of Midwest Crossover

The University of Findlay volleyball team went 1-1 on the first day of the Midwest Crossover after falling to #5 Ferris State 3-2 (26-24, 25-18, 22-25, 24-26, 15-13) and then defeating Davenport 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 18-25, 27-25) on Oct. 12 in Indianapolis, Ind. The split brings the Oilers' record to 16-4 on the season and 10-2 in the conference.

In their first match, the Oilers were led by senior Amanda Winner and junior Izzy Murphy who both recorded 17 kills, while junior Shelby Kin recorded 16 kills, and sophomore Madison Moore contributed seven.
Senior Hailee Olson recorded 56 assists and eight digs against the Bulldogs.

Defensively, the team was led by Senior Kara Scherger, who received 22 digs, while Winner recorded 21 digs and junior Ally Duncan added 11.

In their second match of the day, the Oilers were led offensively by Winner who recorded 14 kills, while Kin had 12 kills and Murphy added 11.

Olson recorded 49 assists and nine digs in the match against Davenport.

Scherger led the Oilers defensively with 18 digs, while Winner recorded 11 digs and sophomore Olivia Morrison added nine.
