Heavy rain forced the cancellation of the final round of the ONU Fall Invitational for both the Lourdes men’s and women’s golf teams on Sunday morning at Colonial Golfers Club in Harrod, Ohio.
Action began with most players playing around 5-6 holes before the rains began. Following an hour rain delay, the competitors returned to the course, but only played another hole or two before the inclement weather returned, leaving the course unplayable.
Final results were based upon Saturday’s first round. The men finished tied for first with Heidelberg at 303, with Jay Denman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) and Spencer Stubbs (Lima, Ohio/Bath H.S.) tying for second place. The women placed second at 363 with Makenzie Fannin (Centerburg, Ohio/Centerburg H.S.) and Skyler Henry (Swartz Creek, Mich./Swartz Creek H.S.) leading the way with rounds of 88 each to finish in a tie for fifth.
The women will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 4 as the Gray Wolves host the Lourdes Invitational at The Legacy Golf Club. Action begins at 9 a.m. The men return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Ohio Cup. Play begins at 10 a.m. at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio.
