Rockets Launch Competition at Purdue Invitational

The University of Toledo men's tennis team kicked off their first day of play in the Purdue Fall Invitational on Friday.

Senior Serjen Olmedo secured a win in the opening round with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Green Bay's Miles McDowall. Junior Danilo Vukotic was victorious over Illinois State's Zacharias Rasmusson after three sets (4-6, 7-5, 10-7) and junior Thawin Suksathaporn defeated Cardinal Stritch's Niccolo Rossi in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 11-9). Senior Juan Carranza also claimed victory, defeating Charlie Ridout of Green Bay (6-3, 6-0).

The Rockets secured several victories in doubles play with senior Vince Anzalone/freshman Cole Shoults defeating Illinois State's Cameron Peterson/Zacharias Rankloo Rasmusson (6-2). Senior Reid Teatsorth/sophomore Tyler Gargas defeated IUPUI's Mikel Saavedra/Furhan Plunkett (6-3) and later went on to defeat DePaul's Tripp Tuff/Luuk Wassenaar (6-4). Sophomore Nikola Arsic/senior Luka Vitosevic defeated Wright State's duo Donovan Cellupica-Towers/Theo Bourghelle (6-4) as well as IUPUI's duo Furhan Siddiki/Michael Koch (7-5).
