Sheila Samoei (Eldoret, Kenya/Hill/Butler CC) posted a top-five finish to lead the Lourdes women’s cross country team as it competed in the Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
In the White Race, the second of two women’s races during the afternoon, St. Francis (Ill.) took the team title with 61 points, while fellow Wolverine-Hoover Athletic Conference-foe Lawrence Tech was second with 108 points, and Indiana Kokomo rounded out the top-three with 118 points.
The Gray Wolves finished ninth of 14 teams in the standings.
Samoei led the way for the Gray Wolves, finishing fourth overall out of 106 runners in the White Race in 19:44.40.
Emma Kosek (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) posted a season-best time in the race, crossing the finish line second for Lourdes in 21:35.20. Jasmine Stein (Gibsonburg, Ohio/Gibsonburg) rounded out the top-three competitors for Lourdes in the race, finishing just shy of a new season-best time.
Also scoring for Lourdes in the race were Julia Campos (Toledo, Ohio/Waite) and Meagan Weller (Paulding, Ohio/Paulding/Toledo), finishing fourth and fifth for the Gray Wolves, respectively.
Lourdes will take a week off before returning to action on Saturday, Nov. 3 as it travels to Grand Rapids, Mich. to compete in the Wolverine-Hoover Athletic Conference Championships.
