NEW YORK (WTVG) - Alex Lorton - a 2002 graduate of St. John's Jesuit High School - recently received the 2018 Male Ultra Runner of the Year award from the New York Road Runners.
Lorton grew up in South Toledo as he ran both cross country and track & field for the Titans.
In 2018, Lorton completed the TCS New York City Marathon in 2 hours 46 minutes 21 seconds. Two weeks later, he finished second at the NYRR NYC 60k inside Central Park.
The NYRR Club Night awards took place on January 31 and the organization renamed its Male Ultra Runner of the Year award in honor of the first NYRR president Ted Corbitt. This date marked the 100th anniversary of Corbitt's birth and his son Gary was on hand to present Lorton with the newly named award.
Lorton plans to run in the 2019 Boston Marathon.
