TOLEDO (WTVG) - There will be one first after another when Inverness Club hosts the Solheim Cup in 2021.
For the first time in course history the famed 18th hole will become the ninth for a major event.
"You come off one and ten and come right over to nine, everything will be so accessible," said Tournament Director Becky Newell.
This also means the 18th hole for the Solheim Cup will be the traditional ninth hole which is also next to the clubhouse.
This will be the first Solheim Cup that will share the same tee box at one and ten. That means on Monday in the singles matches, the first groups will likely be coming through to play ten while the crowd is making a ton of noise for the final groups teeing off on the first hole.
A very unique situation.
Also for the first time in this event the opening ceremony will be held miles from the course, the plan is to put it on the water in downtown at Promenade Park on the Friday before the cup starts.
