The University of Toledo men's tennis team completed the final day of the Purdue Fall Invitational on Sunday.
Sophomore Tyler Gargas took on Cardinal Stritch's Danilo Pejovic in the final round of Flight H singles. Gargas took runner-up after falling 3-6, 6-4, 12-10.
The Rockets also competed in several singles matches. Senior Serjen Olmedo swept Wright State's William Morton (6-1, 6-0), senior Vince Anzalone defeated Butler's Adrian Mag (3-6, 6-2, 10-6). Senior Juan Carranza defeated Butler's Dickson Michael (6-4, 7-5) and junior Danilo Vukotic defeated Butler's Temilope Adelakun (6-2, 6-3).
In doubles play, senior Reid Teatsorth/Gargas defeated a DePaul/Wright State duo 5-3. Sophomore/senior duo Nikola Arsic/Luka Vitosevic defeated Ball State's Tom Carney/Bryce Bonin 7-5 to meet Teatsorth/Gargas in the finals. The pair of Teatsorth/Gargas claimed victory over Arsic/Vitosevic 7-6.
"We finished fairly strong today," head coach Al Wermer said. "We stayed pretty fresh and healthy. We have lots to work on and learn. We can be a team that is very hard to deal with."
The Rockets will return to the tennis courts at the ITA Midwest Regionals in Notre Dame, Ind., Oct. 17-21.
