Toledo Women's Golf Heading to Indiana for MAC Preview on Sunday and Monday

The University of Toledo women's golf team continues its busy month of October with a trip to Noblesville, Ind. for the MAC Preview on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 14-15. The trip to the Hoosier state will provide the Rockets an opportunity to play at the par-72, 6,125-yard Purgatory Golf Club, the site of next spring's Mid-American Conference women's golf championships. The first day of play will consist of 36 holes beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start, while the final 18 holes will start with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
"I'm happy we have the opportunity to play our championship course prior to the spring," first-year head coach Jenny Coluccio said. "The course is an interesting design and the level of difficulty will depend on the way the course is set up and weather conditions. Conditions could be challenging with the wind, since there is no protection on the course from the elements. The Preview will be good preparation for the spring and for our next event in Louisville. Both courses are open in the design, however they require accuracy and knowing when to be aggressive."
Toledo is coming off a strong showing where it tied for sixth place at Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. The tournament field included six schools ranked in the top 70 of Golfweek's computer rankings. Coluccio said the Rockets will look to build on this with another strong week of practice.
"We are becoming stronger with each practice and round under our belts," Coluccio said. "We continue to focus on the little things, and the players are beginning to see and believe how it will pay off for them down the road. We've had a challenging and out-of-the-box week of practice and they are once again ready to test what they've learned."
Seniors Pimchanok Kawil and Pinyada Kuvanun are tied for the team lead with an impressive 72.2 stroke average. The duo will be joined in the Rockets' lineup by senior Natcha Daengpiem, junior Saranlak Tumfong and junior Thunpijja Sukkasem. Junior Donchanok Toburint will play as an individual.
The Rockets will be competing against seven Mid-American Conference schools - Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Western Michigan - as well as Belmont, Cleveland State, Fort Wayne Purdue and Xavier.
