Junior Saranlak Tumfong's one-over par 73 was the Rockets' best round today.
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Toledo women's golf team is tied for eighth place following the first two rounds on Saturday at the Lady Buckeye Invitational. The Rockets shot 29-over par 605 on Ohio State's par-72, 6,319-yard Scarlet Course.
Five Rockets are separated by two strokes in the individual standings with senior Pinyada Kuvanun leading the way at seven-over par 151.
Senior Natcha Daengpiem (77-75), Thunpijja Sukkasem (77-75) and junior Saranlak Tumfong (79-73) each carded eight-over par 152s, while senior Pimchanok Kawil notched a nine-over par 153 (77-76). Junior Donchanok Toburint is at 16-over par 160 (82-78) through 36 holes.
Tumfong registered the Rockets' top score of the day with a one-over par 73 in today's second round. She registered an eagle on the par-five, 487-yard 12th hole and also tallied two birdies during her round.
"Sara's eagle was from about 95 yards out," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "It's a tough shot because you can't see the whole surface of the green. She made a really good swing and holed it out."
Sukkasem's two-round total of 152 was her best back-to-back total of the season that Coluccio said is a result of her hard work.
"Thun's success today has been building all spring," Coluccio said. "She's worked hard on some swing improvements and finding the best game plan for her mentally. Today she executed very well mentally and it showed in her results."
No. 20 Michigan State leads the 12-team field at six-over par 582 (288-294) with No. 11 Kent State in second place at eight-over par 584 (293-291).
Tomorrow's final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
