Toledo senior Duncan McNeill was named the Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week on Friday after tying for fifth place at Ohio State's Robert Kepler Intercollegiate last Saturday at one-over par 143 (70-73). McNeill is receiving the weekly honor for the first time this season and the third time in his collegiate career.
McNeill's performance helped lead the Rockets on OSU's par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course against a field that included No. 40 Florida and No. 45 Ohio State as well as MAC schools Ball State, Kent State, Miami and Northern Illinois.
An Annan, Scotland native, McNeill carded a season-best one-under 70 in cold, windy and rainy conditions in Friday's opening round en route to his best finish of the season. He enjoyed his most success on par-five holes, finishing at two-under par. He also tied for fifth place in the field with 26 pars.
The Rockets are competing at the MAC Championships this weekend at Club Walden in Aurora, Ohio.
