MLB draft changes prompt Kern to look to Ohio State for baseball future

ARCHBOLD, Ohio (WTVG) - Kade Kern was prepared to impress Major League Baseball scouts this spring, but the Archbold senior had those plans derailed when the season was canceled due to COVID-19.

Not that Kern has a terrible backup plan -- he'll continue playing baseball at Ohio State. His next opportunity to get drafted should come in three years, after his junior season with the Buckeyes.

Kern stood a chance to get drafted this season, but MLB decided to condense the draft from 40 rounds to just five, due to the pandemic.
