MONROE, Mich. (13 abc Action News) - Daniel Clay is facing a second degree murder charge in Monroe County for killing Chelsea Bruck.
On Wednesday, the court proceeding lasted about 10 minutes. Judge Jack Vitale said he didn't want to hear all of the evidence in pieces. Judge Vitale pushed the next time Clay will be back in court to the end of October.
He said it's not fair for either side to meet next week.
Clay's lawyer, Russell Smith, said this gives him time to go over more than 2500 documents his team received.
"Recently we received a lot of materials that was just forwarded to us that was consisting of additional reports, DVDs, videos, those types of things," said Smith. "It's important that the defendant is adequately represented. What the judge did was move the date to allow both the prosecutor and the defense attorneys to have adequate time to review all the materials."
Clay's next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26th at 10am. After that he should appear in court on Wednesday, November 2nd at 8:30am.
