Teen killed in Seneca County crash

SENECA COUNTY (WTVG) - Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving two cars. One teen was killed, three others were injured.

It happened Saturday, October 1st, 2016 at 12:53 pm at the intersection of SR 19 and CR 34 just south of Green Springs in Adams Township.

Troopers say a front passenger, 16-year Emily B. Wagner of Clyde, was killed in the crash. Troopers say Wagner was wearing her seatbelt.

Troopers say a 2000 Dodge Stratus driven by Tori L. Meggitt, 16 of Green Springs, was westbound on CR 34 approaching the intersection at SR 19. when the driver ran the stop sign and struck a Ford pickup. Emily Wagner and another teen were the passengers in this car.

The driver of the pickup, Jacob L. Lipstraw, 28 of Oak Harbor was transported with non-life threatening injuries to Tiffin Hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt and did not have any passengers.

A second occupant of the Stratus, 17-year old Skylar M. J. Burroughs of Clyde was taken by air ambulance to Saint Vincent Medical Center and is currently listed in critical condition. He was a back seat passenger. Troopers say Burroughs was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Stratus, Tori Meggitt sustained non-life threatening injuries and transported to Fireland’s Hospital by ambulance. Troopers say she was wearing a seatbelt.

Ms. Meggitt ran the stop sign at CR 34 and struck Mr. Lipstraw’s vehicle as it entered the intersection. Both vehicles then ran off the southwest corner of the intersection and overturned. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by The Seneca County Sheriff’s Department, Seneca County Coroner’s Office, Green Springs Police Department, Green Springs Fire Department, North Central EMS, Sandusky County EMS, Tiffin Fire Rescue Division EMS, Saint Vincent’s Life Flight, Seneca County ODOT, and John’s Welding and Towing. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
