TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Chicago Bears on Friday announced the team fired their head coach, Whitmer High School graduate Matt Eberflus.

The firing comes the day after the Bears lost to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. Eberflus was criticized for poor clock management on the team’s final drive that likely cost them the game.

The Bears were 14-32 under Eberflus. The team started the 2024 season 4-2 before losing six-straight games.

The former University of Toledo linebacker graduated from Whitmer in 1988. In 2004, he was inducted into the University of Toledo Athletics Hall of Fame.
