Maumee City Schools to give people the chance to drive a school bus
MAUMEE, Ohio (WTVG) - Maumee City Schools will be giving people the chance to drive a school bus on Feb. 22 as part of its “Drive a Bus” event.
The Drive a Bus event will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon. Anyone age 20 and up can register for the event and go to the school parking lot during the event to drive a bus.
“I frequently hear the comment, ‘I would never be able to drive something that large,’ so we want to give people the chance to try out driving to see if they might want to drive a school bus for Maumee City Schools,” says Maumee’s Transportation Supervisor Randy Conaway. “We hope having this experience will take away the initial fear someone may have about operating a larger fully-automatic vehicle.”
People will be allowed to drive a school bus in the parking lot under the guidance of a Maumme bus driver.
Only people who pre-register will be allowed to drive during the event. According to a press release, space is limited so participants are encouraged to register soon.
