Teen charged in deadly crash, accused of driving without license
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WBAY/Gray News) - A 16-year-old girl is facing serious charges following a crash that left one person dead in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.
Madylin Blonigen is charged with three felony counts of knowingly operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, causing death and great bodily harm.
The crash happened last June 13 in the area of the Town of Calumet and Malone. According to the criminal complaint, deputies reported a black Toyota SUV/RAV4 struck a culvert, launched into the air, struck a pole, and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest on its side and on top of a passenger, who died at the scene.
The complaint identified Blonigen as the driver. According to the complaint, she admitted to consuming THC from a vape cartridge pen before the crash. The complaint also stated that Blonigen admitted to not having a driver’s license.
The complaint said her blood was drawn at the hospital for lab testing. The complaint notes that additional charges are anticipated pending lab results.
Blonigen appeared in Fond du Lac County Court on June 17. The court set her bond at $5,000. She was ordered not to operate a vehicle, not to use any CBD, THC, or hemp products, and not to have any vapes or any paraphernalia related to them. She’s also ordered to have no contact with the victims and their parents.
