MAGNOLIA, Texas (KBTX/Gray News) - A storm-related incident in Texas on Tuesday killed a teen working on a home construction project.

It happened just after noon in Montgomery County when a strong line of storms moved from the Brazos Valley and into Southeast Texas.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said multiple agencies responded to the location in Magnolia when a home under construction collapsed while workers were on site.

The workers noticed the house began to shift during the thunderstorm, and all but one were able to get out before the house collapsed, according to the preliminary report.

“Upon their arrival, first responders quickly worked and located the trapped male. It is with profound sadness that we report a 16-year-old juvenile male was not able to exit the structure and was pronounced deceased on the scene,” said Specialist Caleb Cole with the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said the victim was confirmed to be an employee of the construction company and was authorized to be on site.

Next of kin has been notified of this incident; however, the juvenile’s name will not be released, said the sheriff’s office.

The name of the company involved was also not publicly shared.
