Two people in critical condition after highway shootout in Toledo, police say
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Two people were injured in a shooting on a Toledo-area highway on Saturday, police say.
An 18-year-old and a 26-year-old are in critical condition at the hospital after a shooting on I-475 E near Corey Road around 3:00 a.m. on June 15, according to Toledo Police records. Toledo Councilwoman McPherson said Tuesday one of the victims was paralyzed from the shooting.
Officers received multiple calls about vehicles shooting at each other. Witnesses told investigators two people in one of the vehicles were shot and put into another vehicle. Shortly thereafter, two people arrived at an area hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police found a scene on I-475 eastbound and found an abandoned vehicle. Investigators collected numerous shell casings from the scene. A stretch of the highway was closed for an extended period of time during the investigation.
