Police: Armed man breaks into Toledo home, assaults victim

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo man was arrested after police say he broke into a home, assaulted someone and fired a gun.

Omar Long Jr., 21, of Toledo, is charged with Aggravated Burglary, Obstructing Official Business and Resisting Arrest. Toledo Police records say he was arrested around 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of St. John Ave.

Charging documents said he forced his way into a victim’s home while he had a gun on him. Once inside, police say he assaulted the victim.

The victim was able to get outside the home and police allege Long fired a gun into the air “out of anger.”

Officers arrived at the scene to respond to the shots fired call and handcuffed Long. Police say he ran away from an officer toward the victim.

His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
