FOSTORIA, Ohio (WTVG) -The Fostoria Police Division says one of their officers overdosed on suspected fentanyl during a traffic stop early Saturday morning. Two people were arrested in the incident, the department says.

The department says officers were conducting a traffic stop on Columbus Avenue in Fostoria when police gained probable cause and began searching the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, officials say Officer Brayden Moon found a bag containing white powder inside the passenger’s purse.

The substance, which police now believe to be fentanyl, became airborne, and Officer Moon was exposed. Officials say shortly after exposure, he collapsed and is believed to have suffered an overdose.

Officers on scene began administering life-saving measures, including multiple doses of Narcan. Officer Moon was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated and later released.

The passenger, Latoya Bowers, was arrested on a charge of corrupting another with drugs. The driver, Alex Tiell, was arrested on a complicity charge.
