One dead, two injured in crash on Airport Hwy.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A 22-year-old is dead and two others were injured in a crash in Toledo on Friday, according to TPD.

The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. on July 4 in the 3800 block of Airport Hwy. near Angola Road.

According to a Toledo Police report, 22-year-old Alex Leonel was heading eastbound on Airport Hwy. when he crossed the center line and crashed into another vehicle.

Leonel was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The driver and a passenger in the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

The crash is under investigation.

Editor’s note: an earlier version of this story said the vehicle driven by a 67-year-old crossed the center line, as detailed by a traffic division news release. Authorities later confirmed that statement was a typo and it was actually the 22-year-old driver who crossed the center line.
