Investigators seeking info on Sandusky County arson case
GIBSONBURG, Ohio (WTVG) - Authorities are asking the public for information about a case of arson in Sandusky County.
The State Fire Marshal Division is looking for information about a fire that destroyed a house on W. State Route 6 in Gibsonburg. The agency said anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction could be eligible for a reward up to $5,000.
A spokesperson for the agency said firefighters were called out to the house at 6638 W. State Route 6 in Gibsonburg around 3:40 p.m. on Dec. 28, then again around 3 a.m. on Dec. 29.
Firefighters found smoke coming from the two-story house the first time they were called out on Sunday. There was a fire in one of the rooms that they were able to put out without issue.
When they were called out again early Monday morning, the house was engulfed in fire. The wind fanned the flames and the house collapsed.
Investigators found that both fires were set on purpose, that no one lives at the home and all of the utilities were disconnected.
Anyone with information can contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728.
