Caught on camera: Child falls from unauthorized zipline at indoor trampoline park
TORONTO (CBC) - Parents want to warn others about the potential dangers of ziplines after their son took a terrifying fall which sent him to the hospital.
A parent’s nightmare came true this past weekend at an indoor trampoline park in Ontario, Canada.
Eleven-year-old Ramin Azizi checked the harness at the top of the zipline, but he didn’t make it far.
His mother, Mona Azizi, recorded the frightening moment Ramin was injured.
“When I saw him, I was out of my mind,” Mona Azizi remembered.

“I ran as fast as I could, thinking all things to the extreme,” Sadir Azizi, Ramin’s father, said.
Ramin’s parents were worried about injuries to his spine or head.
“When I went down, the first thing my son said to me was, ‘Dad, am I dying?’” Sadir Azizi said.
Ramin was taken to Toronto’s SickKids Hospital. His family said he suffered internal bruising, but he is going to be OK.
“I was feeling very traumatized and it felt scary,” Ramin remarked.
Troy Richardson, an expert in zipline accidents, watched the video. He said he’d want to know if there was a secondary carabiner attaching the harness to the line.
“So, if something fails, you’ve got to back up,” Richardson said.
He also wondered whether the facility had enough staff.
“Really, you need people at different connection points watching everybody,” Richardson added.
Ontario’s public safety regulator said Aerosports Trampoline Park never had the zipline inspected or tested prior to running it.
“The operator had not notified the TSSA that it had been installed, and therefore, it was not authorized by the TSSA,” Ammara Khan, with Ontario’s Technical Standards and Safety Authority, said. “The equipment has been taken out of service.”
The park issued a statement saying the incident is under review by insurers and legal counsel.
Given the incident involves a minor, the company said it is not providing interviews or additional details at this time.
But Ramin’s parents want his story told.
“I don’t want to see another kid hurt,” Sadir Azizi said.
While the zipline is closed, the trampoline park remains open. It’s unclear what penalties the company may face.
