Ceiling saga at Toledo apartment complex
UPDATE: Fred Ehiagwina informed 13 Action News on Friday that his ceiling has been repaired.
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Relaxing isn’t on the agenda for Fred Ehiagwina as of late.
“It’s horrible,” Ehiagwina said.
That’s because there was a hole in his living room and bedroom ceiling, with insulation all over the floor.
“It’s cold constantly, I have to keep my heat on 90 [degrees],” Ehiagwina said.
The Toledo man said his Fox Run Apartment, on Stirrup Lane, looked like that for about two weeks. He said it started as a small leak that gradually got bigger.
Ehiagwina said a piece of drywall even fell on his head, leaving a red mark that still hurts.
He reached out to his landlord about a fix and a place to stay in the meantime, but instead got the runaround.
‘It’s like I can’t trust him," Ehiagwina said.
13 Action News called the landlord who admitted there was a leak in the roof. However, he claimed he has been in touch with the tenant. Adding, he tried to fix the holes in the apartment on Tuesday but, was told he wasn’t allowed in.
The landlord said the plan is to patch up the holes this week.
After the interview on Tuesday, Ehiagwina texted our Claire Mitchell Wednesday evening and said the ceiling was “partially” fixed with more to do.
The landlord said he’s offering his tenant discounted rent because of the situation.
Meanwhile, Ehiagwina is considering taking legal action after this ceiling saga.
