(Gray News/TMX) – A woman in Florida is facing charges after allegedly hurling two beer bottles at a toddler who was trying to check on her after she fell off her bike, authorities said.

Deputies with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a disturbance around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Fort Walton Beach.

Witnesses told deputies a 3-year-old approached Carolyn Miller to check on her after she fell off her bicycle.

When the toddler approached, Miller allegedly picked up two beer bottles and threw them at the child.

Carolyn Miller was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The sheriff’s office said that, according to witnesses, the bottles “were thrown with enough force that had the child not ducked, he could have been struck in the head.” The child was not injured.

The interaction was witnessed by the child’s parents and several neighbors, who provided sworn statements.

When deputies contacted Miller, “she was unable to provide a coherent explanation for her actions, stating only that she believed she was being attacked,” the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities said Miller sustained a minor finger injury consistent with falling from a bicycle.

Miller was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
