The Osmonds star Alan Osmond dies at 76, family says
(Gray News) – Alan Osmond, the oldest member of the musical group The Osmonds, died at 76, according to a family statement shared with several local media outlets.
KSL reported that his wife and their eight sons were at his bedside at the time of his death.
While his official cause of death was not released, Osmond had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987.
KSL reported the singer retired from performing after being diagnosed.

His brother Merrill Osmond confirmed his death in a Facebook post.
“Two days before my brother, Alan, passed, I was blessed to sit quietly with him. We talked as brothers do, heart to heart. He was struggling, but when I shared a joke or two, he found the strength to chuckle… and then he smiled,” the post said.
“So please, don’t let your hearts be heavy. Don’t weep for him. Rejoice, knowing that your brother, your friend, your hero is no longer in pain. He is free. He is whole. He is home,” Merrill Osmond continued in the post.
People reported that brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Donny formed The Osmonds in 1970s. Alan was the leader of the band at just 8.
Alan helped create the Children’s Miracle Network telethon, People reported, as well as launching the One Heart Foundation.
