Local play cafe serves up all kinds of fun for the whole family
Kidnetic Play Cafe in Toledo has everything from slides to a ninja course for kids ages 1-10.
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - If you’re a parent, you are no doubt always looking for options when it comes to entertaining the kids, especially now that school’s out for the summer. There’s a new indoor play destination in the Toledo area.
The Kidnetic Play Cafe has been serving up all kinds of family-friendly fun since it first opened in February. It’s described as a place where kids burn energy and build confidence.
“Kidnetic Play Cafe is all about activity, getting kids engaged, using their energy and letting them play and be kids. We have slides, a ninja course, a huge ball pit with an interactive TV and a climbing area,” said Dustin Brooks, the CEO.
Brooks is an automotive engineer by trade. He used some of those skills when designing the play place with his wife.
“This play set is unique to this building. We did the design and layout. My wife did the colors. We wanted it bright and fun for the kids. This was the post office. It was a center of the community at one time, so we are happy to restore the energy back into this building,” said Brooks.
Brooks says it’s also a space where the kids seem to forget about their screens for a while.
“Technology is not bad in moderation, but it’s good for them to also have a place to just play. Learn to engage and make friends and burn energy. It’s important to give them a space like this.”
And the play cafe isn’t just for kids. Brooks says there are special spots designed for the adults to enjoy.
“We gave them a center section to sit, drink coffee and relax and know their child is playing in a safe, clean, fun place.”
Michael Louis loves having the play space in the neighborhood.
“We have three babies, so I am able to hold the littlest one while the older two play, and we can connect with other parents,” said Louis.
But Louis does more than sit on the sidelines. He also occasionally joins in on the fun.
“I got on the slide a couple times, so I’ve been out there, but I didn’t fit so well.”
The slides are one thing, but Brooks says there’s an area where they often have to remind adults about the rules.
“We have to tell dads all the time that the ninja course is for kids,” said Brooks.
There are party rooms that double as learning centers.
“We have party rooms sitting idle for the most part during the week, so we started stem for little engineers. It’s stem and gym basically. It lets them engage and be active as well as build and create. Not all kids are made out for sports.”
Kidnetic Play Cafe is for children ages 1-10 and there are special spaces for the littlest visitors to play in.
