Toledo Catholic Bishop Daniel Thomas wants ProMedica to reconsider a decision that allowed Toledo's only abortion clinic to resume operations.

Capital Care applied to the state of Ohio after ProMedica agreed to a patient-transfer agreement. The agreement was mandated by the state legislature. ProMedica stepped in when The University of Toledo Medical Center ended its transfer agreement with Capital Care.

Bishop Thomas announced he and others will participate in a peaceful prayer vigil this Saturday. An announcement from the Diocese of Toledo says the "Choose Life petition with over 10,000 signatures will be presented to ProMedica's Board of Directors" urging them to reconsider their transfer agreement.

The vigil is scheduled to happen at 11:00am on May 19 at ProMedica Headquarters in downtown Toledo. A spokesperson for ProMedica told 13abc.com that they "respect the freedom of speech and the right to protest. We have taken every measure to ensure the safety of our employees and to provide a secure environment for all at our facility."
