If you work in a restaurant and you're serving ready-to-eat food, the health department says you can't touch it with your bare hands. You have to wear gloves.

If not, it's a violation.

During a Standard Health Inspection at Inky's, 3945 N Detroit Avenue, Toledo, on 26-Feb-2018, that violation was one of 11 (7 critical & 4 non-critical). The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department noted:

X Food employee touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands.

X Dumping in the hand sink.

X Droppings in the basement on the floor and on shelves.

13abc sent an email to Inky's. We're still waiting for a reply.

Next, Golden House Restaurant, 130 E South Boundary, Perrysburg. A sanitarian with the Wood County Health District spotted 11 violations (4 critical & 7 non-critical) on 21-Feb-2018. A Follow-Up inspection on 23-Feb-2018 brought that overall number down to 10 (2 critical & 8 non-critical). Among the initial violations:

X No date marking.

X Shrimp prepped next to dirty dishes.

X Garlic in oil at room temperature.

13abc called Golden House Restaurant. We were told the owner did not speak English and the woman who answered the phone did not want to comment.

Finally, a restaurant that got back to us and got back to the health department. During a re-inspection, the owner says the violations you're about to see were wiped clean.

That restaurant was The Oarhouse Bar & Grill, 5044 Suder Avenue, Toledo. During a Standard Health Inspection 23-Feb-2018, a sanitarian noted 12 violations (8 critical & 4 non-critical). Those included:

X Food employee(s) did not wash hands.

X The dish machine did not have any sanitizer solution.

X Hand washing sink in the back room covered by a tray.

In response, a spokesperson for The Oarhouse emailed 13abc:

"Immediately after our initial inspection on the 26th, we were in constant contact with the health department in order to rectify the issues. Upon re-inspection on the 28th, all violations, minus a minor maintenance issue (which has also since been fixed), were certified as corrected. In almost 7 years of being in business we have not had any issues prior and take this very seriously. We have re-educated our team where necessary and have taken every necessary step so this does not repeat in the future."
