Children facing life-threatening illness to benefit from Greater Toledo Home Giveaway
Demski family grateful to ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital for saving kids
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Demski family carries memories of difficult times when they were able to overcome challenging obstacles thanks to the staff at the ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital.
It started with Mirabella, who was born premature. She spent weeks in the NICU.
Then, there was John Paul, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.
“The first night we were here, the doctor said that it was a very touch-and-go situation. They did not know if he would make it through the night, and the team did an amazing job to take care of him, and they saved his life and we will be forever grateful,” said Jennifer Demski, mother of Mirabella, 6, and John Paul, 4.
Jennifer said her son still relies on the care at the hospital for John Paul.
“We continue to come here to see the pulmonary pediatricians,” she explained.
Part of the wrap-around services the Demski family receives will be funded through the Greater Toledo Home Giveaway. Mavillino Custom Homes is building a 2,300 sq. ft. 3-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath ranch that will be raffled off. Tickets are $100 each. Proceeds stay local.
“Terrific idea. Anything we can do to help support the children’s hospital. Everybody connected with this place, we are happy to support because it’s meant the world of difference to us,” said Dan Demski, father of Mirabella and John Paul.
