Toledo man sentenced for trying to strangle his child

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo man was indicted on Sept. 28, 2023, after he allegedly attempted to strangle his child. On Aug. 6, 2024, he entered a guilty plea and on Sept. 17, 2024, he was sentenced to three years of probation.

According to court documents, on Aug. 8, 2023, Ronald Cousino, of Toledo, allegedly put his hands around his child’s throat and squeezed, making it difficult for the child to breathe. Afterward, the child was found to have visible marks on his neck.

Cousino originally entered a not-guilty plea but has now changed it to guilty. The guilty plea was accepted for the charges of strangulation and endangering children.

According to court documents, Judge Ian English sentenced Cousino to three years of community control. He was also ordered to submit to DNA testing, placed on electronic monitoring and was ordered to complete an anger management program.
