Man takes plea deal in Lenawee Co. crash that killed four people

BRITTON, Mich. (WTVG) - A man charged in a Lenawee County crash that killed four people has taken a plea deal in the criminal case, court filings show.

Matthew Koester, 57, pleaded guilty to Attempt Reckless Driving Causing Death as part of a plea agreement on June 11, according to court records.

According to Michigan State Police, four people died after the crash on Milwaukee Road near Britton Highway in Macon Township in September 2023.

The four men that died were 35, 33, 23, and 18 years old. All of them were residents of Lenawee County and were working for K&B Asphalt Sealing, driving between job sites. Their names were not formally released.

Koester is due back in court for sentencing on Aug. 28.
