TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - University of Toledo defensive tackle Darius Alexander was selected with pick 65 Friday by the New York Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Alexander, a fifth-year senior, earned second-team all-MAC honors in his final season with the Rockets. He started 12 games and amassed 40 tackles, seven and a half tackles for loss, three and a half sacks and four pass deflections. He also returned an interception for a touchdown in the team’s six-overtime bowl game win over Pitt.

With Alexander being drafted Friday, the Rockets have now had players selected in the first three rounds of the draft in back-to-back years; the first time that has happened in program history. In 2024, the Eagles selected Quinyon Mitchell in the first round.

This is also the fifth straight year that a Rocket has been drafted. Tyscen Anderson (fifth round) and Samuel Womack (fifth round) were each drafted in 2022, Desjuan Johnson (seventh round) was selected in 2023, Mitchell in 2024 and now Alexander.

Two picks after Alexander was selected, the Cleveland Browns selected another MAC player, Harold Fannin Jr.
